My client, a growing Fractional CFO and Finance Advisory business supporting a portfolio of ambitious start-ups, SMEs, and high-growth companies is looking to recruit a Trainee Management Accountant. You will work closely with the lead CFO, supporting multiple clients and gaining exposure across the full finance function, from day-to-day accounting through to management reporting and strategic insight. This is a development role designed for someone at the early stage of their accounting career who wants variety, responsibility, and a clear development pathway into a Management Accountant position.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of accurate monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cashflow) and financial reports within agreed timescales.
  • Contribute to the development and ongoing improvement of management accounts reporting packs.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of CEO dashboards and KPI reporting.
  • Support analysis of financial performance, variances, and trends to help generate insight for clients.
  • Maintain purchase and sales ledgers across multiple clients.
  • Process invoices, credit notes, and payments accurately and on time.
  • Perform monthly accurate reconciliations: bank, debtor, creditor and control accounts.
  • Assist with VAT returns and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Support year-end processes and liaise with external accountants and auditors where required.

Key skills:

  • AAT/ACCA/CIMA part qualified or equivalent.
  • Self-motivated, with a strong desire to learn and develop.
  • Flexible and adaptable, able to respond effectively to multiple priorities.
  • Organised and detail-focused, with excellent time management skills.
  • Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with Xero, QuickBooks, Excel, or Google Sheets is desirable but not essential.
