Playworker for our Afterschool Club

Salary: Scale 2 Point 3 £8,598.20 pro rata actual salary

Hours: Part-time 15 hours per week, 5 days 2:45pm-5:45pm Monday to Friday

Working Pattern: Term time only

Contract type: Permanent

The Headteacher and Governors are looking for a dedicated Playworker to inspire and engage children from Nursery to Year 6 in a wide range of activities inside and outside, creating a fun, safe, and imaginative environment.

Role Overview

  • Support children’s social, emotional, and physical development through play
  • Plan and facilitate a mix of indoor and outdoor activities, from arts and crafts to team sports
  • Foster a welcoming environment where every child feels heard, valued, and included
  • Supervise breakfast/snack times and help with preparation
  • Liaise with parents, school staff, and other playworkers to ensure smooth daily operations

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, set up, and clear away stimulating play activities
  • Observe children’s interests and adapt sessions to their needs
  • Encourage positive behaviour and cooperative play
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and complete brief incident reports
  • Uphold health, safety, and safeguarding policies at all times
