This is an urgent interim requirement and we need an experienced Quantity Surveyor who can become productive quickly and work with a high degree of independence. We are specifically looking for candidates who have worked within a specialist subcontractor environment and understand the full commercial lifecycle of projects, from pre-contract and procurement through variations, valuations and ultimately final account. Experience within high-end interiors, bespoke joinery, specialist fit-out, furniture, stone, architectural finishes or other design-led subcontract packages would be particularly relevant.

The Opportunity: Broadreach Recruitment is supporting a highly regarded specialist business delivering exceptional bespoke interior projects within the luxury residential and design-led construction market. Due to immediate workload requirements, we are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the team on an interim basis. You'll be joining an established team but will need to be comfortable taking ownership quickly, getting underneath live projects and providing effective commercial support without requiring significant hand-holding. The initial assignment is expected to be approximately three months, with the potential to extend depending on project requirements.

What You'll Be Doing: You will support and manage the commercial lifecycle of specialist projects, including:

  • Commercial management from pre-contract through delivery and final account
  • Reviewing project costs, budgets and commercial performance
  • Preparing and managing valuations and applications for payment
  • Identifying, pricing and managing variations
  • Managing change throughout the project lifecycle
  • Supporting procurement and subcontractor appointments
  • Reviewing contractual and commercial documentation
  • Monitoring project expenditure against budget
  • Producing accurate cost reports and forecasts
  • Working closely with Project Managers and delivery teams
  • Liaising professionally with clients, consultants, contractors and suppliers
  • Supporting negotiation and agreement of final accounts
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities
  • Maintaining clear and accurate commercial records

What We're Looking For - Essential:

  • Proven Quantity Surveying experience
  • Experience within a specialist subcontracting environment
  • Ability to manage the full commercial lifecycle of projects
  • Strong variations, valuations and final account experience
  • Commercially confident and capable of working independently
  • Strong Excel and commercial reporting skills
  • Able to join an existing project environment and become effective quickly
  • Available to start at short notice

Particularly Relevant Backgrounds: We would be very interested in candidates from:

  • Bespoke joinery
  • High-end interior fit-out
  • Luxury residential interiors
  • Furniture and cabinetry

About You: You'll be someone who can quickly understand what has been bought, what has changed, what has been delivered and what needs to be commercially recovered. You should be:

  • Commercially sharp
  • Highly organised
  • Confident with clients and project teams
  • Comfortable challenging where necessary
  • Detail-focused
  • Pragmatic and solutions-oriented
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision

Experience of complex, bespoke projects where drawings, specifications and client requirements evolve during delivery would be particularly valuable.

Contract Details: Based in London. Ideally office-based 5 days per week, hybrid may be available. Up to 2 days working from home may be considered where required. Immediate / short-notice start strongly preferred.

Apply: This is an urgent requirement and applications will be reviewed immediately. If you're an experienced Quantity Surveyor from a specialist subcontracting, bespoke interiors or high-end fit-out environment and are available at short notice, please apply with your CV. Be Ready for Hands-On Scenarios

Expect practical questions or even a mini test where you’ll need to demonstrate basic skills. They might set up a scenario and ask how you would approach a specific task. Let’s prepare by brushing up on our trade skills and thinking through past projects we’ve worked on.

Flexibility is Key

Since this is a temporary role, they’ll want to know if you can adapt quickly to different teams and situations. Let's think about past experiences where we've had to adjust on the fly. This will show we’re ready to hit the ground running!
