Job Description
Broadreach Recruitment is looking for experiencedInternal Boat Buildersto support the production and fit out of high-quality vessels. This role is hands-on and detail-focused, requiring skilled tradespeople who can deliver exceptional standards of workmanship in all aspects of internal joinery, fitting, and finishing.
Working as part of a dynamic team, youll be responsible for fitting interiors on a wide variety of boats from leisure craft to luxury builds. Precision, creativity, and pride in your work are essential as youll play a key role in creating high-specification interiors that meet demanding quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Reading and interpreting drawings and technical plans.
- Fitting a variety of boat furniture to specification.
- Installing ply bulkheads and cabin sole bearers.
- Hanging and fitting cabin doors.
- Cladding bulkheads with polished veneered ply.
- Installing fibreglass components as part of the internal structure.
- Carrying out basic upholstery and vinyl work where required.
- Fitting and aligning sole boards.
- Undertaking occasional painting and finishing tasks.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Boat Builder, Joiner, or Fitter within the marine sector (or transferable skills from carpentry, cabinetmaking, or similar trades).
- Ability to read and interpret drawings with strong attention to detail.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and woodworking equipment.
- Good understanding of marine interior fit-out methods and materials.
- Practical problem-solving skills with a proactive, hands-on approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Awareness of health & safety practices in marine or workshop environments.
Desirable Qualifications
- Apprenticeship or NVQ/SVQ in Boatbuilding, Marine Engineering, Carpentry, or a related trade.
- Experience working on luxury yacht or superyacht interiors.
- Knowledge of composite and fibreglass fit-out.
