Marine Mechanic
Our client is looking for a Marine Mechanic to join the team. You will play a key role in maintaining and servicing our fleet, ensuring our customers enjoy a safe and reliable boating experience throughout the season.
This is a varied, hands‑on position offering exposure to a wide range of marine engines and systems. You will work on industry‑leading brands including Volvo Penta and Nanni engines, carrying out everything from routine maintenance to major winter servicing and repairs.
The Role
The work naturally changes throughout the year, providing plenty of variety:
During the boating season (April – October), your focus will be on:
- Routine servicing and preventative maintenance.
- Minor mechanical repairs.
- Belt replacements, engine checks and fault finding.
- Preparing boats for customer use and ensuring they remain in excellent working condition.
During the winter period (November – March), the role shifts towards:
- Major engine servicing.
- Larger mechanical repairs and overhauls.
- Winterisation and recommissioning of vessels.
- Diagnostic work and long‑term maintenance projects.
What You'll Be Working On
- Volvo Penta marine engines.
- Nanni marine engines.
- Engine diagnostics and fault finding.
- Mechanical servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance.
- General marine mechanical systems across fleet.
On-Call Support
During the boating season, you'll join a rotational on‑call rota with the engineering team.
You'll be provided with a company phone to support customers experiencing technical issues. In many cases, problems can be resolved over the phone by talking customers through simple checks. However, where required, you'll launch a service boat and attend customers on the water to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues.
Additional on‑call payments are provided, along with overtime pay for any additional hours worked.
