Senior Cabinet Maker - Apprentice Mentor in High Wycombe

Experienced Cabinet Maker Build exceptional furniture. Pass on a valuable trade. We’re looking for an experienced Cabinet Maker who takes real pride in their craft and would enjoy helping the next generation develop theirs. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity to join an established team producing high-quality office furniture and bespoke cabinetry. You’ll work across a varied range of projects—from interpreting technical drawings and manufacturing furniture in the workshop through to installing finished pieces on site. However, this role offers something more than the usual cabinet-making position. Alongside your own work, you’ll help mentor apprentices as they learn the trade. You don’t need to be a qualified teacher or an experienced trainer. What matters is that you’re patient, approachable and genuinely interested in passing on the skills and standards you’ve developed throughout your career. What you’ll be doing * Manufacturing bespoke cabinetry, commercial furniture and fitted office furniture * Reading and working accurately from technical drawings and specifications * Working with timber, MDF, laminates, veneers and other furniture materials * Operating woodworking machinery and hand tools safely and efficiently * Assembling and finishing furniture to a consistently high standard * Installing fitted cabinetry and office furniture when required * Managing your work effectively to meet project deadlines * Maintaining a clean, organised and safe workshop * Working closely with colleagues to maintain excellent quality standards * Supporting apprentices with practical guidance and on-the-job training * Demonstrating the correct techniques and safe working practices * Helping less experienced team members build their skills, confidence and attention to detail What we’re looking for You could currently be working as a Cabinet Maker, Furniture Maker, Bench Joiner or similar. You’ll need: * Strong cabinet-making or furniture-manufacturing experience * Experience producing office furniture, commercial interiors or bespoke cabinetry * Confidence reading technical drawings and working to precise measurements * Experience using woodworking machinery and hand tools * Excellent attention to detail and pride in the finished product * A sound understanding of workshop and site health and safety * The ability to work independently and as part of a team * A reliable, positive and professional approach * The patience and communication skills to support apprentices effectively * A genuine willingness to share your knowledge and experience Previous experience training, supervising or mentoring apprentices would be helpful, but it isn’t essential.
