Job description, role and responsibilities:
The main purpose of this role is to manage and deliver the company’s service offering to our clients in a high quality, timely, effective and profitable manner. In association with the Managing Director and support staff, these are the essence of our business offering – their smooth and efficient running is critical to the business’s growth ambitions.
Client management responsibilities
- Meet clients, inspect their craft, promote the services of the company and underpin their confidence in our activities.
- Appraise the client’s requirements and assess the work methods to be deployed, detailing and pricing the same.
- Present the solution in a timely, understandable and within brand manner for the clients consideration and subsequent instruction.
- Schedule the work through the company systems and instruct departments/staff/contractors to undertake the same.
- Adjust and communicate the schedule to meet the work/client requirements.
- Monitor the progress against estimated costs through the company systems and communicate this and any modification to specification and prices to the client for additional instruction prior to proceeding.
- On conclusion of the work, compile and communicate the final account to the owner for their acceptance.
Staff management responsibilities
- Manage all shop floor staff activities through a formal Foreman/staff structure to deliver company and clients expectations.
- Ensure staff activities are compliant with the company’s policies and procedures and accordingly manage discipline within these frameworks as required.
- Ensure quality of service is on a continuously improving basis.
- Promote continuous improvement in the staff activities and training providing opportunities with associated support organisations.
- Ensure all activities are compliant with company Health and Safety rules and regulations.
Corporate management responsibilities
- Be responsible for the budgets in the service aspect of the business being met or exceeded to deliver the profitability required.
- Constantly review, develop and/or change systems within the company to assist both with the delivery and performance monitoring of the service sector of the company.
- Assist with recruitment within the service sector as required.
- Contribute to the development of additional services and facilities within the company.
- Contribute to the business development plans of the company in all aspects.
- Contribute to both the promotion and marketing of the company, its brand, reputation and activities.
- Represent the business and our values in your general conduct and dealings with all our stakeholders.
Functions essential
- Good understanding of business strategy and planning.
- Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
- In depth and current knowledge of repair systems in all substrates.
- Strong project management skills and experience with a track record of managing multiple projects at the same time.
- Strong budget management skills and experience with track record of delivery against budget.
- Strong IT skills with a particular knowledge of MS Office suite products.
- Deep awareness of Health and Safety principals and policies within a similar organisation.
- Full driving licence.

- RYA Sailing qualifications.
- Boat owner.
- VHF Qualifications.
- Knowledge of the marine market in the local service sector.
- Experience of MS Project.
- Track record of customer service skills and or training.
