About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Neighbourhood Officer to join our team. The role requires a customer‑focused candidate who can establish positive relationships internally and externally, and can organise and prioritise a busy workload.

Responsibilities

  • Allocate and let empty homes in the Norwich area in line with policies and procedures.
  • Assist tenants to peacefully enjoy occupation of their homes, taking appropriate action in response to incidents of neighbour nuisance, anti‑social behaviour and harassment, including attendance and participation at County Court hearings for injunction and possession.
  • Deliver service charges to residents at a scheme based within the NR5 area (10 hours a week).
  • Support housing‑related administrative tasks for an asset‑based project.
  • Support Health and Safety checks.
  • Work closely with the Tenancy Support Team and Income Recovery team.
  • Work with professional and voluntary agencies to develop good neighbourhood relations.
  • Safeguard vulnerable adults and children with professional agencies.

About You

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 GCSEs including Maths and English (Grade C / Level 4) or equivalent, excellent communication skills, a positive outlook and a can‑do attitude. Knowledge of tenancy agreements, housing legislation and welfare benefits is ideal. Experience of multi‑agency partnership working and face‑to‑face customer interaction is required. A driving licence and access to an own vehicle is essential, as travel throughout Norfolk may be required. A basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required.
