This is an important role for someone with strong financial control experience who is ready to step into wider responsibility and make a meaningful impact in a fast-moving environment. It would be well suited to a Financial Controller seeking a broader, people-centred leadership position.
The Role
- You will take the lead on the full accounting function for a diverse hospitality portfolio, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and dependable delivery across multiple sites.
- This includes oversight of all core accounting areas such as AP, AR, income and banking, GL, fixed assets, treasury, and the monthly close.
- A key element of the role is reviewing current ways of working and identifying opportunities to refine, streamline, or automate processes.
- You’ll contribute to shaping the long-term direction of finance operations and collaborate closely with senior leadership on planning, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day finance operations across a wide hotel and hospitality portfolio.
- Ensure all accounting activity is completed accurately and within agreed timelines.
- Oversee month-end close, reporting, and adherence to accounting standards.
- Support, mentor, and develop a capable and engaged finance team.
- Identify and deliver improvements, automation opportunities, and system enhancements.
- Maintain strong internal controls and promote consistent practices across sites.
- Act as a key contact for external auditors.
- Support new site and client onboarding where needed.
- Build positive working relationships with internal stakeholders and operational teams.
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and performance review cycles.
Who We’re Looking For
- An experienced finance professional with a background in hospitality, hotels, multi-franchise, or multi-site operations (essential).
- Someone who has previously held a Financial Controller or senior finance operations role.
- Experience managing complex, high-volume finance environments.
- Strong technical understanding of AP, AR, GL, fixed assets, and financial reporting.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, evolving environment.
- Exposure to Shared Services environments is beneficial.
- Confident working with large ERP systems.
- A collaborative leader who enjoys developing people and improving processes.
Ideal Background
- 10+ years’ experience in finance and accounting roles.
- Experience in hotel accounting or multi-site hospitality operations.
- A track record of supporting and leading teams through change and improvement.
- Familiarity with automation, RPA, or finance transformation projects is an advantage.
