I am representing a firm in London who are looking to bring in a new head of operational risk. This organisation is a joint venture by two fantastic businesses, and the firm is going from strength to strength.

The role will lead the 2nd line operational risk function. You will be required to work in the London office three days per week.

Overview:

This is a senior leadership opportunity within a major provider of foreign exchange and currency solutions. The successful candidate will lead the organisation’s Operational Risk function, enhancing the enterprise-wide risk management framework, driving governance improvements, and embedding a risk-aware culture during a time of business expansion and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the implementation and development of Operational Risk and Compliance frameworks across the organisation.
  • Maintain and evolve the Enterprise Risk Framework, including the Operational Risk Register and RCSA processes.
  • Identify emerging risk issues and strengthen the organisation's approach to risk appetite, key risk indicators (KRIs), and risk taxonomy.
  • Oversee the deployment and embedding of Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) tools.
  • Act as a strategic risk advisor to senior leadership through effective reporting and insight.
  • Ensure that risk management is aligned with business goals and embedded into day-to-day decision-making.
Essential Experience and Skills:
  • Extensive experience in Operational Risk within the financial services or fintech sectors.
  • Strong ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders, translating complex risk topics into actionable business insights.
  • Demonstrated expertise in building and delivering board-level risk reports.
  • Hands-on experience with GRC implementation and operational risk frameworks.
  • Familiarity with foreign exchange operations, wholesale/retail currency management, or financial market infrastructure.
  • Proven leadership and change management skills, with a track record of embedding risk culture across diverse teams.
