Are you an HR professional who thrives on variety and wants real ownership over your work? This role offers the perfect blend of autonomy, client impact, and support from a highly experienced senior HR leader — without the bureaucracy of a large corporate structure.
You’ll partner with a diverse range of organisations, advising on everything from day-to-day HR queries to complex ER and redundancy cases. No two days look the same — ideal for someone who enjoys fast-paced, meaningful work and building trusted client relationships.
The Role
This role offers a rare blend of autonomy, variety, and genuine flexibility. You’ll manage your own client portfolio with the confidence and freedom to shape your day, while gaining exposure to organisations of all sizes and sectors—no two days will ever look the same. You’ll enjoy a mix of remote working, Teams-based advisory work, and occasional on-site visits, supported by a highly approachable HR Manager who provides hands-on mentorship when you need it. You’ll also become part of a wider, collaborative HR community of around 50 professionals across Scotland and Ireland, giving you access to shared expertise and a strong sense of team. The nature of the work ensures continuous development, particularly in complex ER and redundancy matters, strengthening your technical depth and professional credibility. This is an ideal step for someone in an internal HR role seeking broader exposure, or an established consultant who wants more variety and a warm, growth-minded environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you’ll act as a trusted advisor to a diverse portfolio of clients, offering practical, commercially minded HR support across a wide range of situations. You’ll lead on complex ER matters, redundancy processes, and sensitive investigations, providing clear guidance through Teams, over the phone, by email, and during occasional on-site visits. Your work will also involve preparing high-quality documentation, templates, letters, and toolkits that help clients strengthen their internal HR frameworks. Staying up to date with employment law changes will be key, ensuring you can confidently guide clients through evolving requirements. As you build strong, long-term relationships, you’ll naturally contribute to business development simply by delivering an excellent service that clients value and trust.
What you will step into:
From day one, you’ll step straight into meaningful, high-impact work. You’ll take the lead on a significant volume of redundancy projects, support clients through the busy January advisory period, and quickly take full ownership of your own client portfolio. Your ability to operate confidently at a senior level will make an immediate difference, helping to ease the workload of the Aberdeen HR Manager while ensuring clients receive responsive, high-quality support.
About You:
You’ll thrive in this role if you bring solid generalist HR experience and feel confident handling complex ER and redundancy cases. You’re someone who can comfortably juggle multiple clients, communicate clearly across Teams, phone and email, and build rapport quickly with a wide range of personalities. You enjoy the balance of working independently while still being part of a supportive team, and you’re either CIPD-qualified or working toward it. Above all, you bring a friendly, approachable, and confident presence that helps clients feel supported and at ease.
