About the Role
Reporting directly to our Underwriting Lead, you will oversee the evaluation and onboarding of specialty insurance programs. We aren’t just looking for someone to process files; we want an innovative mindset that can help refine our risk appetite and support our commercial expansion. You will utilise the latest technology to work efficiently and make smarter, data-driven decisions across our portfolio. Whether your background is in Construction or SME settings, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our underwriting intent is consistently documented and applied.
Responsibilities
- Sourcing, evaluating, and onboarding new insurance opportunities with a focus on technical excellence.
- Support broader business goals by identifying new ways to expand the partnership book.
- Conduct thorough qualitative and quantitative analysis of program profitability and risks.
- Work cross-functionally with operations and product teams to streamline internal workflows.
- Assist in maintaining and refining underwriting manuals and appetite statements.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in Construction underwriting, ideally within an SME or MGA setting. InsurTech understanding is really important here as well.
- Strong multi-line product knowledge and familiarity with DA oversight.
- Familiarity with building and retaining broker relationships.
- A data-driven approach with high attention to detail regarding pricing and compliance.
- You understand why insurance organisations care about loss ratios and can translate that into smart underwriting.
- A track record of testing, learning, and pivoting to help an organisation explore new markets.
