Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Senior Accountant role based in Halifax. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing a portfolio of limited company clients on a day-to-day basis, acting as their main point of contact and providing ongoing accounting and tax support. Key responsibilities include:
- The preparation of statutory accounts for limited companies
- Corporation tax returns
- Personal tax returns
- Overseeing daily accounting operations
- Preparing and reviewing financial reports
- Analysing financial data
- Ensuring compliance with tax regulations
- Monitoring client accounts
- Supervising ledger entries
- Assisting with budgets and forecasts
- Identifying financial trends
- Providing commercial insights to help clients improve financial performance
The Senior Accountant will work closely with clients to deliver high-quality advice across accounting, tax, and compliance matters.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance
- Proven experience preparing statutory accounts and tax returns for limited companies
- Experience managing a portfolio of clients, ideally within an accountancy practice
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective client and team interaction
- Proficiency in accounting software and modern IT systems
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Professional qualification (ACCA, AAT, or equivalent) preferred
- Previous experience working with a varied client base across multiple industries
