At Dorothy House Hospice Care, our In-Patient Unit provides specialist palliative care for people with life-limiting illnesses, focusing on symptom management, holistic care and helping people achieve the best possible quality of life. As a Registered Nurse within our hospice team, you'll deliver high-quality, person-centred nursing care whilst working alongside a skilled and supportive multidisciplinary team.

WHAT WILL THE ROLE INVOLVE?
- Assessing patients' physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs, developing individualised plans of care alongside patients and their families
- Delivering and evaluating high-quality nursing care using evidence-based practice
- Working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care from admission through to discharge
- Supporting patients and families through complex symptom management and end of life care planning
- Providing professional advice and support through hospice services when required
- Taking charge of the clinical environment when appropriate and supporting colleagues across the nursing team
- Contributing to clinical audit, quality improvement, education and service development activities
- Maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring care is delivered in line with professional standards and hospice policies

Essential requirements
- First Level Registered Nurse with active registration
- Experience delivering evidence-based nursing care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when supporting patients with complex care needs
- Demonstrating attributes that reflect care, compassion and willingness to support patients and their families through their end of life journey
- Experience of medicines management and working effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Experience contributing to quality improvement, audit or service improvement activities
Desirable requirements
- Teaching experience or relevant teaching qualification
- Experience using clinical systems and Microsoft Office applications, including SystmOne
- Knowledge of, or experience within, palliative care and end of life care services
