What you'll be doing:
As a Communications Officer, you will improve our digital presence and engage with different audiences using various channels, both digital and in person. You will manage our website, create engaging and interesting content, run digital campaigns, and promote inclusive communication across the organisation and with customers. This role requires lots of creativity and technical skill, along with strategic thinking to effectively reach and engage diverse internal and external customers.
Key responsibilities:
- Digital Content Management: Develop and maintain our website and social media channels, ensuring all content is up to date, engaging and interesting and aligned with our brand and objectives.
- Digital Marketing: Use marketing software such as Mailchimp and Hootsuite to create and distribute digital content and campaigns to segmented audiences.
- Events: Plan, organise, and execute in person, digital and online events that engage and inform our audiences.
- Website Management: Manage the website using a Content Management System (CMS), ensuring a seamless user experience and accessibility for all visitors.
- Inclusive Communication: Promote and use inclusive communication methods, including graphic design, animation and video to reach diverse audiences.
- Content Creation: Write and edit compelling content for various platforms, ensuring clarity, accuracy and engagement.
- Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, ensuring deadlines are met and goals are achieved.
- Problem Solving: Analyse problems, assess potential solutions, and make sound decisions to enhance our communication efforts.
- Relationship Building: Build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external customers, encouraging collaboration and producing positive outcomes and experiences.
- Strategic Development: Apply strategic thinking to ensure all activities align with organisational goals and objectives.
Who we are looking for:
Experience: Significant experience in digital communications, including website and social media management. Proficiency in using marketing software such as Mailchimp and Hootsuite. Experience planning and organising digital/online/face to face events. Experience managing a website using a CMS. Experience creating communications such as animation, video, and graphic design.
Skills: Excellent writing and editing skills with a creative flair. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to build positive relationships and influence others. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment. IT literate and confidence using online technologies. Problem-solving abilities with a good analytical mindset and attention to detail. Team player with a collaborative approach to work. Strategic thinker with the ability to see how communication fits into the broader organisational context.
Knowledge: Committed to encouraging creativity and applying creative thinking to communications. Experience of creating graphic design content and knowledge of best practice in this field. Understanding of social media marketing trends and how to build and convert a digital audience.
Special Requirements: Understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity, and inclusion, with a focus on developing inclusive communications. Ability to take ownership of issues and decisions, striving for high standards in all work. Willingness to work outside of normal office hours as required. A current driving licence.
