About the role:
The Senior Capability Manager leads the marketing capability agenda for the newly formed Carlsberg Britvic GB team. The role will drive the capability development for our marketing and technical and program team based in GB.
The remit of the role is to design and deliver a local marketing development programme that will equip our marketers to develop best in class marketing across our brands, enhancing team skills and performance.
This role will also work with the group marketing capability team to support the delivery of central programmes in GB.
In addition, this role will provide some support to the technical & programme director with the capability program for that team.
As the Senior Capability Manager, you will be responsible for developing the marketing capability vision, strategy and plan needed to drive marketing capability for the GB team. You will be responsible for the deployment of a best-in-class capability and training programmes that inspire and equip our Marketing Community.
This role is a critical one, reporting into Brand Director, but also working closely with the VP GB and her marketing leadership team (MLT) to shape the requirements for capability and flawless lead the execution of this.
Role Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of the capability strategy and secure senior team alignment to approach including the vision, focus areas and the enablers. This should enable a positive shift across the marketing teams in terms of impact across brand proposition development, E2E connections planning, creativity for impact and emerging spaces eg AI. Ensure the enabling part of the programme is agreed and up and running to include marketing forum, awards, clinics, capability champions network and sponsors
- Propose the capability priorities for the marketing teams, working closely with the GB MLT and group capability team to understand the needs and then address prioritised skill areas
- Design and deliver inspiring and educational capability sessions to upskill the marketing community based on the aligned capability calendar agreed with the MLT
- Review business processes and work with process owners to identify areas where the business needs to improve. Work with subject matter experts internally and externally to recommend adjustments to processes and design tools and frameworks to simplify and enhance
- Act as an internal consultant to the brand teams and participate and guide them in brand strategy, brand positioning as appropriate. Provide coaching to the Marketing teams on how to utilise the brand growth framework
- Set direction for the learning portal / capability sharepoint site to ensure it is populated with the most up to date information and case studies
- Contribute to thought leadership within the global marketing capability team in continuous learning, industry trends and future views of marketing best practice
- Work with external partners to ensure we have a programme of inspiring external speakers and trainers
- Ensure the marketing community understand the skills, knowledge and behavioural development to become best in class Marketeers
Experience and Key Attributes:
- In-depth experience across the full marketing mix in FMCG/consumer marketing organisations
- Tenacious with excellent communication, collaboration and presentation skills, to enable the development of highly effective internal and external partnerships. They will work collaboratively with the Marketing community, supporting and challenging them to continuously improve their people and teams’ processes
- Credibility to assess training needs and then design and deliver programmes to experienced marketers so first-hand experience across brand management is essential, with exposure to the full marketing mix, ideally in an FMCG brand side role
- Experience in capability is desirable and an understanding of how adults learn and how to embed new processes is essential
- Evidence of personal development and a keen interest in how brands grow, effective marketing and up to date marketing thinking is essential
- Strong influencing skills – the individual needs to gain a high level of sponsorship for the programmes developed from senior stakeholders with a highly developed influencing style. They also need to be comfortable with constructively challenging and being challenged
- A relationship builder – the individual will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to build trusting business relationships
- Passionate and inspiring – the individual will be responsible for driving marketing best practice. They need to show a passion for brands and marketing that is contagious and be able to convey that passion in an inspirational way to marketing teams and the wider business
