Britten Pears Arts (BPA) is a pioneering Music & Arts based charity, situated on the beautiful Suffolk coast, working across a wide range of activities. Our mission is to use Music, Arts & Heritage to transform people’s lives for the better, to bring communities together and effect positive social change.

The backstage team are dedicated to helping to produce high-quality concerts and events and pride ourselves on being friendly and welcoming to all visiting musicians, artists and technicians. The Lighting Technician will assist with the organisation and running of the lighting aspects of our programmed events. These will usually be at one of our own venues including the internationally renowned Concert Hall, the flexible Britten Studio and the newly re-fitted Recital Room.

The Lighting Technician will work closely with artists, backstage staff, freelancers and the music teams to prepare our performance spaces for concerts and other events. The role is based at Snape Maltings but some travel to other locations within East Suffolk will be required.

In particular we are looking for someone who can:

  • Assist with the rigging, focusing and operation of the lighting for concerts and events at Snape and other venues used by Britten Pears Arts
  • Programme and operate ETC Eos lighting desks
  • Liaise and work with freelance lighting designers, visiting technicians and visiting companies
  • Work with other teams within BPA to provide lighting for concerts and events
  • Design the lighting for occasional concerts and projects
  • Manage the maintenance of lighting equipment
  • Participate in planning meetings for future events
  • Work with and oversee freelance staff, technicians and engineers contracted by Britten Pears Arts
  • Deal with technical requests and queries from artists
