Cambridge Digital Humanities seeks to recruit a fixed‑term Teaching Associate, to be appointed to the Faculty of English. The appointee will take up the post in September 2026 for a period of three years. Cambridge Digital Humanities (CDH) is a thriving research centre, reaching across multiple faculties in the School of Arts and Humanities and School of Humanities and Social Sciences. We also have strong associations with Cambridge's many museums and collections, work closely with the University Library, and have links to many other research centres.
The Teaching Associate post is open to someone at any stage of their career, with a primary research and teaching interest in any area of digital humanities. We are particularly interested in applicants with specialisms in Archival and Memory Studies, Gender and Technology, and Cultural Analytics (with a focus on AI methods, GIS, or visual analysis) and in applicants who can offer skills to strengthen our practice‑based teaching.
General duties will include:
- Teaching
- Course development
- Examining
- Some admin roles associated with teaching
The Teaching Associate will be expected to support and maintain the Centre's and University's national and international reputation for excellence in teaching. Alongside teaching they will be a full member of our research community. We are seeking an individual with a strong academic record and potential to make a significant contribution to the Centre.
Candidates will need to show evidence of the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- Good first degree and PhD in a relevant subject area (or clear evidence that completion of such a doctorate is imminent)
- Evidence of ability to engage in high‑level research in DH, with publications and participation in scholarly activity commensurate with stage of career
- Evidence of ability to teach Digital Humanities at postgraduate level
- Ability to play an effective role in the life and work of the Centre
- Ability to work as part of a team
