We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to assist in the financial and legal control of commercial glazing and cladding projects.

About the role

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Senior Quantity Surveyor, based in Warrington with flexibility to work from home on occasion.

The role involves managing all aspects of cost control, preparing cost plans and budgets, handling Bills of Quantities (BOQ), conducting detailed cost reporting, and ensuring financial outcomes align with project objectives.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will collaborate closely with the design, procurement, and project teams to maintain high standards of cost efficiency and accountability.

  • Core Responsibilities
  • Commercial Management
  • Oversee all commercial aspects of façade projects from tender through to final account
  • Price/forecast the cost of the different materials needed for the project
  • Discuss and work with clients throughout the project
  • Prepare tender documents, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities, cost value reconciliations (CVR’s) and other documentation
  • Track changes to the design and/or construction work and adjust budget projections accordingly
  • Prepare cashflow projections
  • Prepare, manage, and report on project budgets, forecasts, and cost value reconciliations (CVRs).
  • Lead procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, including negotiation of terms and pricing.
  • Monitor and control project costs, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate valuation of works, applications for payment, and cash flow management.
  • Ensure invoices are paid in a timely manner by clients/contractors
  • Contract Administration
  • Administer contracts under JCT and NEC forms, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Manage variations, compensation events, and claims, including preparation and negotiation.
  • Provide contractual advice to project teams and senior management
  • Ensure robust record-keeping to support claims and dispute resolution
  • Project & Stakeholder Management
  • Collaborate with project managers, design teams, and site teams to deliver commercially successful projects.
  • Attend client and subcontractor meetings, representing the commercial function.
  • Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors and commercial staff.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners.
  • Measure and value the work done on site
  • Attend site as required
  • As a representative of Britplas you are expected to present yourself and your team to the highest standards and strive to deliver excellent levels of customer service.
  • Maintain good communication with the staff in the office and factory to enable successful co-ordination of scheduling and sharing of information.
  • To carry out any further duties that may be reasonably requested of you

Experience Required

  • Proven track record in a similar Senior Quantity Surveyor Role, specific experience in commercial buildings
  • Strong working knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts, including practical application.
  • Thorough understanding of cost management, procurement strategies, and commercial reporting.
  • Familiarity with risk management
  • Ability to manage numerous projects at any one time
  • Excellent scope management and change control skills
  • Ability to organise and delegate effectively
  • Excellent reporting and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in commercial software and Microsoft Office tools.
