Head of Flight Operations – Help Launch the Next Generation of Aviators
Location: Home with 2/3 days per week in Newbury. Some travel in the UK.
British Young Pilots is a fast-growing, purpose-driven organisation getting young people into aviation and flying. From first flights to full-on career pathways, we open doors for the next generation — and demand is growing fast.
We’re now looking for a Head of Flight Operations to join our senior team and lead our UK-wide flying operations.
The role:
Your mission is to make sure we can meet growing demand for flying hours across the UK by ensuring we’ve got the right aircraft, the right instructors, and the right operational structures in place.
You will:
- Manage and grow relationships with third-party flying schools
- Help expand and oversee our own fleet of training aircraft
- Hire, lead and develop instructors and ground teams at multiple locations
- Work closely with our leadership team to scale operations nationally
- Help shape the future of aviation access for young people from all backgrounds
This role would suit someone who:
- Comes from a military or commercial aviation operations background
- Has experience leading people, systems and assets across multiple sites
- Is motivated by purpose — and wants to give something back to the next generation
- Has the strategic mindset to plan growth, and the practical know-how to make it happen
You don’t need to come from a flight training background — we’re looking for leadership, operational experience, and a passion for aviation.
If you’re ready for a role with purpose and challenge in equal measure — let’s talk.
Please note, this is a full time demanding job, not a comfortable ‘retirement gig’ – we are a driven & ambitious high growth organisation and we have high expectations for the person who takes this role.
