This full‑time position (40 hours per week over 5 days) is perfect for an RVN with a couple of years of experience who thrives in various hospital departments, including theatre, ward, consults, and Emergency and Critical Care (ECC). If you excel in one area more than another, don't worry—comprehensive training and support are available to fill any gaps. Plus, leadership training is offered for those aspiring to step into senior roles in the future.
Diverse and Exciting Work Environment
This hospital serves not only its first opinion client base but also handles internal referral cases from surrounding branches in East, North, and Central London. This means you'll encounter a diverse range of cases, providing a rich learning experience. The facility boasts fantastic diagnostic support, including a CT scanner, a commercial laboratory, and a team of experienced surgeons performing advanced orthopaedic, soft tissue, and minimally invasive surgeries.
Your Team and Support Structure
You'll be working alongside a large and dedicated team of approximately 25 vets, 27 RVNs, 14 Student Veterinary Nurses (SVNs), 7 Veterinary Care Assistants (VCAs), and a robust front‑of‑house team. The management structure includes senior RVNs, two deputy head nurses, a head nurse, a head vet, and a hospital manager, ensuring you have all the support you need.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as weekend Charge Nurse as directed
- Advise clients on post‑operative care, including providing print‑outs and appropriate literature
- Maintain accurate clinical records
- Ensure equipment is cleaned, sterilised, and stored correctly
- Assist veterinary surgeons in theatre, with inpatient examinations, and during consultations
- Uphold high standards of cleanliness and tidiness using standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Work Schedule and Location
Your rota will include a 1:4 weekend rotation with Time Off In Lieu (TOIL) and up to three bank holidays per year. While you may be included in the last‑resort on‑call rotation, rest assured that two RVNs and one VCA are on shift each night. The hospital offers excellent transport links, including a short walk to a Central Line tube station; on‑site parking is not available.
