Are you a dedicated veterinary surgeon seeking a flexible, progressive, and supportive work environment? Do you value a practice where patient care and welfare are paramount? If so, this could be your ideal next step. This locally owned practice offers the benefits of a major employer while maintaining the personal touch and clinical freedom of an independent practice.

About the Role

The practice is looking for a veterinary surgeon to join their inclusive, forward‑thinking team on a one‑year fixed‑term contract for maternity cover, starting in March/April. There is also the potential for a permanent position after the contract ends. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work in a busy first‑opinion practice that prides itself on delivering exceptional care to each patient.

Why Join Us

The practice is owned by three partners and Registered Veterinary Nurses Leanne and Amy. The team is a close‑knit group of experienced vets and a competent new graduate, supported by a strong ratio of RVNs, a Veterinary Care Assistant, and a dedicated reception team. The nurses handle schedule three procedures and consults, allowing vets to focus on their cases and work‑ups. The practice frequently collaborates with visiting orthopaedic surgeons and cardiologists, and with a high rate of insured clients, most work‑ups are kept in‑house. For referrals, there are multiple renowned clinics in the area. While there is a small amount of on‑call duty (some evenings and Saturdays), support is always available from Sandy and the OOH provider, Village Vets.

Location Benefits

Situated in a prime location for commuting, the practice is easily accessible via public transport and major roads, with London and Cambridge within reach.

About You

The ideal candidate will have at least 2‑3 years of clinical experience and be comfortable with routine presentations. Passion for high levels of client and patient care is essential. The practice values work‑life balance and offers flexible rotas tailored to individual needs, including options like late starts, longer lunch breaks, split shifts, and various combinations of working days.

Our Benefits

  • Competitive salary up to £70k (FTE), negotiable DOE
  • Full‑time role (40 hours) with 1 in 4 Saturdays, no OOHs or Sundays
  • CPD allowance and encouragement
  • Birthday off
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Death in service benefit
  • Increased holiday allowance after 2 years of service
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Paid professional memberships (RCVS & VDS)
  • Exclusive company discounts and rewards
  • Visa Sponsorship
