An established, independent small animal practice in the Surrey area is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join its friendly, supportive and highly collaborative team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident clinician who enjoys delivering high-quality, evidence-based care while building strong, long-term client relationships.

The practice is well supported by a nearby purpose-built referral hospital, offering access to advanced diagnostics and procedures including CT imaging, laparoscopy, complex surgery, and specialist input. This ensures excellent continuity of care for patients and a strong clinical support network for the team.

The Role

The successful candidate will join a welcoming and experienced clinical team, working a well-structured rota designed to support a healthy work–life balance:

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week, worked across four 10‑hour shifts
  • Weekday hours: 8:30 am–6:30 pm, including a paid 30‑minute lunch break
  • 1 in 3 Saturdays (8:00 am–4:00 pm), with a full weekday off in lieu
  • No out-of-hours or on-call duties
  • Inpatient care provided at an alternative site during weekdays
  • A balanced mix of consulting and surgery, with at least one dedicated surgery day per week

The practice is well equipped with modern facilities including laser therapy, ultrasound (cardiac and linear probes), dental X‑ray, wireless radiography and video otoscopy, enabling clinicians to work cases up thoroughly and confidently.

About the Candidate

This role would suit a Veterinary Surgeon who is:

  • RCVS registered
  • Ideally with 3+ years’ small animal experience
  • Confident in routine consultations and surgical procedures
  • A strong communicator who enjoys working as part of a team
  • Passionate about patient welfare and excellent client care
  • A GDP adviser (desirable but not essential)

Salary & Benefits

Competitive salary from £45,000+, depending on experience

  • £1,500 CPD allowance plus 4 days’ CPD leave, with scope for increased support towards a certificate
  • RCVS, VDS and one additional professional membership paid
  • 5 weeks’ annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with long service
  • Option to purchase up to one additional week of annual leave
  • 20% annual leave uplift incentive for taking leave during quieter periods
  • Eligible for a discretionary annual bonus of up to 5%, based on practice performance
  • Strong emphasis on work–life balance and clinician wellbeing
