We are hiring!
We are seeking a reliable, experienced Yard Assistant to join our friendly team at a busy equine veterinary practice based in Holmeswood, Lancashire. This is a part-time role working 30 hours per week (some flexibility required). The shifts will be between 8:00am and 6:00pm Monday to Friday, including flexibility for weekend shifts as required by the practice.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about horses who enjoys variety in their role and working in a supportive environment.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Confident and competent handling of horses, including leading, lunging, grooming, and restraining for veterinary procedures
- General horse management: mucking out, feeding, rugging, and maintaining clean, safe yard areas
- Stock control: monitoring supplies, assisting with ordering and stock rotation
- Administrative support: booking appointments, updating records, data entry, and assisting with insurance paperwork
- Client interaction: welcoming clients, providing assistance and guidance, and ensuring a professional and positive experience for all visitors
Our ideal candidate
- Proven experience working with horses (preferably in a veterinary or professional equine setting)
- Strong horse-handling skills and understanding of equine behaviour
- Organised and capable of managing both physical yard duties and office-based admin
- Confident using basic computer systems (training provided where needed)
- Friendly, professional, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
