Axe Valley Vets are recruiting! To complement our team of 10 vets, ranging from medicine and surgery certificate holders to recent graduates, we are looking for someone new to join the clan! Yes, we are corporately owned, but with the previous owners still very much involved, this is a lovely practice to work in with a friendly, family feel that still remains despite ownership change, in a great part of the world.
You have clinical freedom to work up your cases, but the support of an experienced team to help if needed, giving the best of both worlds. We have a hub and spoke system with a few branches (some consult only) and one main practice, great nurses and ANAs, a reception team with VNs at the helm and healthy attitude to social get togethers! A number of our vets have been here since graduating and have chosen to stay for many years, having been supported to complete certificates if desired.
We are part of the IVC new graduate scheme and a partner practice for Surrey University so have lots of experience supporting both students and colleagues in their development. We have good relationships with local referral hospitals, a visiting surgeon and visiting ophthalmologist who are both here regularly, giving opportunity to follow cases and learn from the best.
Find a great work/life balance to enjoy the area we live in. We are based in Somerset with branches around the local area, a great place to be able to enjoy work and play. Easy to get to Bristol and Bath or to get lost in the Somerset countryside if that is more your thing. If you have a canine companion, they can join us too! With staff kenneling on site, plenty of lunchtime walks occur here!
What we can offer:
- Salary up to £65K FTE depending on experience.
- Full Time: 40 hours over a 4 day working week - allowing for a great work/life balance.
- Weekend rota is not onerous at only 1 in 9 and is day time only, we use an OOH provider for overnight calls.
- We understand the need for flexibility, for childcare or just to fit other hobbies into your life! Our standard full time working week is 4 days, but we would welcome part time applications.
