Full-Time | No Weekends | Sole Charge
About the Role
This is a full-time position (40 hours, Monday-Friday) with no weekend work, providing you with an excellent work-life balance. The role will involve sole charge responsibilities, so confidence in both surgery and medicine is important. You\\\’ll have the chance to fully work up your own cases, make independent clinical decisions, and develop your own approach while still having the support of a wider network behind you.
Whether you\\\’re a more experienced vet looking for independence, or an ambitious vet earlier in your career who\\\’s eager to grow with the right mentoring and support, we\\\’d love to hear from you.
About Our Team
At Lichfield, you\\\’ll be joining a small but dedicated team that truly cares for each other as much as for our patients.
Together, we\\\’ve created a practice culture built on trust, respect, and teamwork. We\\\’re proud of the supportive atmosphere we\\\’ve developed, and we\\\’re looking for someone who will enjoy being part of this positive, people-first environment.
What We\\\’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- A solid foundation in both general surgery and medicine
- Confidence to manage cases independently and work sole charge
- Excellent communication skills with both clients and colleagues
- A caring, compassionate approach with a commitment to patient welfare
That said, we know the best teams are built not just on skills, but on attitude. If you\\\’re motivated, enthusiastic, and passionate about delivering gold-standard care, you\\\’ll fit in perfectly with us.
We\\\’re also open to supporting newer graduates — you\\\’ll benefit from mentoring and guidance as you grow in confidence. For more experienced vets, you\\\’ll find plenty of autonomy and encouragement to contribute ideas, shape clinical protocols, and raise standards.
Location
Lichfield is a vibrant cathedral city with a rich history, beautiful parks, and a friendly community. Excellent transport links make commuting simple, and you\\\’ll find the best of both worlds here—peaceful countryside and easy access to larger towns and cities when you want them.
Benefits & Rewards
As part of the Pets at Home Vet Group, we\\\’re proud to offer an excellent package of rewards, benefits, and career opportunities, including:
- Salary up to £75,000 DOE (open to discussion based on experience)
- £5,000 Welcome Bonus
- 28 days annual leave (including bank holidays)
- Funded CPD allowance + dedicated time off
- Certificate study actively encouraged and supported
- RCVS, VDS and BVA memberships paid
- Contributory pension scheme
