Purovets are proud to be working with an outstanding independent small animal hospital with around 50 dedicated staff across 3 sites. The practice offers a truly varied caseload, including exotics, supported by modern facilities designed to cater for a wide range of species.

They are particularly strong in medicine and emergency & critical care (ECC), providing excellent support for vets who want to develop or refine their skills in these areas. The practice has also recently introduced laparoscopic spays and boasts a highly capable soft tissue surgical team, making this an ideal environment for someone looking to build on their GP foundation while exploring advanced techniques.

As an approved Veterinary Nurse Training Practice, a Vetsure Graduate Friendly Practice, and with multiple experienced VetGDP Advisors on the team, they are committed to mentoring and professional growth. Their reception team is equally dedicated, working to BVRA standards and holding bronze, silver, and gold awards. Among the clinical team, several vets are Advanced Practitioners with certificates in Cardiology, Diagnostic Imaging, and Small Animal Medicine – a testament to their culture of excellence and continued learning.

Collaboration, continuity of care, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance are central to their ethos. The rota offers a 4-day week with just 1 in 4 Friday nights dedicated to hospital in-patient care (emergency OOHs covered externally), plus 1 in 4 Saturday consults on the same weekend. The practice actively encourages and supports staff working towards further qualifications, so this role would particularly suit a vet keen to pursue a certificate or strengthen their existing GP skills within a collaborative and well-equipped hospital setting. Equally, there is plenty of support available to less experienced candidates, and upcoming new graduates are encouraged to apply as well!

Located in the historic county town of Bedford, the hospital benefits from excellent road and rail connections to London, Cambridge, and the North, while being surrounded by beautiful countryside. If this sounds like the opportunity you\’ve been waiting for, don\’t hesitate to get in touch!
