Are you a passionate squash coach looking to work in a vibrant university sport environment? The University of Portsmouth is seeking an enthusiastic Squash Coach to support the development of our BUCS squash programme. This is an exciting opportunity to work with motivated student-athletes, helping to enhance performance, grow participation, and foster a positive and inclusive club environment.
Purpose of the Role
You’ll play a key role in supporting the delivery of squash activity across the club, working closely with student leaders to create an engaging, structured, and enjoyable programme.
Key responsibilities
- Planning and delivering high-quality squash training sessions for players of mixed ability
- Supporting individual player development (technical, tactical, and match play)
- Assisting with team selection and preparation for BUCS fixtures
- Attending and supporting fixtures where possible
- Working collaboratively with the student club committee, including supporting trials
- Promoting a positive and inclusive club culture
Training & Fixtures
Training sessions will run weekly Monday’s 6-10pm during term time (September–April) at the University’s squash facilities at Ravelin Sports centre. BUCS fixtures typically take place on Wednesday afternoons (times and locations vary).
Qualifications and Criteria
- Appropriately qualified in squash coaching (e.g. England Squash Level 2 or equivalent)
- Organised, reliable, and able to engage players of varying abilities
- A confident communicator who can motivate and support student athletes
- (Desirable) Experienced or knowledgeable in university squash or BUCS competition
What We Offer
