The University of Portsmouth Lacrosse Club comprises of a Men’s, Women’s and Mixed team. The Men’s team have been promoted to the BUCS Prem South league for the 2026/27 season, and require a coach to lead on training and match days. The club is looking for a qualified and experienced coach who can drive a performance culture across the team, and commit to training sessions and match days across the season. The successful candidates will be available from September – April.
Training: Please note that the successful applicant will be required to deliver one of these training sessions per week. If available for both sessions, that is desirable, but only one session per week is mandatory.
Fixtures: Wednesday afternoons, (times and locations vary)
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead on the delivery of the club’s pre-season programme
- Collaborate with the student club committee to deliver trials at the start of the season
- Lead on the planning, delivery and evaluation of weekly training sessions, focusing on technical and tactical elements specific to the Men’s team
- Select the Men’s match day squad, communicating with players and team captains
- Attend fixtures and manage the match day squad
- Attend club committee meetings where relevant
- Promote the club’s philosophy to all members
- Adhere to the University’s Code of Conduct
Criteria:
- Desirable England Lacrosse ‘Advanced Coaching Award’
- An understanding of Lacrosse in the higher education sector
Payment:
- Training: £20 - £25/hour depending on qualifications and experience
- Away fixture: £50 - £80 depending on location
