Overview
We are looking to find an assistant coach for our women’s 2nd team. This will be a self-employed, consultancy-based position. Our women’s second team (the Furies) is a competitive, selective team that play in Women’s Midlands Tier 3.
Responsibilities
- Travel with the team and coach Wednesday BUCs matches
- Attend training to know the team and help improve performance in matches; there is another coach to run training sessions, so this is an assistant coach role
- Communicate with the other coach and team captain to decide the squad and tactics for each game
- Provide feedback on each game and suggest training adaptations to address observed match scenarios
- Help the captain and other coach select the varsity squad for the varsity match vs Cambridge 2s
- Attend and help coach the varsity match (availability for a full Sunday at the end of February/start of March in Cambridge)
The most important aspect of this role is Wednesday availability; other aspects of the role are more flexible and can be discussed.
Qualifications
- Some coaching experience is preferable
- The role will be well supported with close interaction with the captain, other coach, and OUAFC committee
Compensation
- Rate of pay: a bulk payment of around £55 per match. Training would be on a volunteer basis, but a wage may be negotiable.
- All travel to away games reimbursed at the club's standard rate.
Schedule
- Wednesday matches: Home games kick-off usually 2pm in Oxford; Away games include Birmingham, Nottingham, Cambridge, and other locations. Travel and match can last from 11am-6pm. Travel can be provided if needed. Wednesday timing flexibility is required as kick-off times vary.
- Training: Friday evenings at Greyfriars Catholic School (Cricket Rd, OX4 3DR), Sunday early evenings at Greyfriars Catholic School.
