About the Role

As Finance Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and effectiveness of British Triathlon’s financial management and reporting. You will support the organisation through high-quality financial insight, operational finance management, and collaborative business partnering across a wide range of teams and stakeholders. You will lead on the preparation of monthly management accounts, annual budgets, forecasts, payroll, and year-end audit processes, while supporting colleagues across the organisation to better understand and manage their budgets.

The role also includes oversight of financial controls and reconciliations, grant funding reporting, and supervision of the Finance Assistant, helping to ensure finance processes operate efficiently and compliantly across the organisation. We’re searching for someone with strong financial management and analytical skills, who can communicate financial information clearly and confidently to a range of audiences. You’ll be comfortable balancing detailed operational finance responsibilities with providing proactive support and guidance to colleagues across the organisation.

This role would suit someone who enjoys building trusted working relationships and supporting decision-making through accurate, insightful financial information. You’ll bring a high level of attention to detail, a collaborative and flexible approach, and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively. Experience of grant funding and/or working within a sports governing body environment would be advantageous, as would a professional accounting qualification (CIMA/ACCA) or equivalent qualified-by-experience expertise.

While there is opportunity to contribute strategically and influence organisational decision-making, the role also requires ownership of routine financial processes and a commitment to accuracy, consistency, and compliance. We also value the different perspectives that a more representative workforce will bring to our work and are particularly keen to hear from applicants from diverse communities and backgrounds.

Successful working relationships are key to any role. Our Finance Manager will report into the Director of Finance, Governance & Operations. The successful candidate will be an integral and valued member of the Finance, Governance & Operations team and will work closely with colleagues across the organisation, including budget holders and external finance stakeholders.

The role will benefit from our successful hybrid working model, where colleagues work from our Loughborough head office a couple of days a week, providing a supportive, collaborative, and friendly working environment, but each role will have its own unique requirements.

Benefits

  • 25 days’ annual leave (plus flexible holiday buying) which increases with service
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption pay
  • Dedicated time for personal and team learning and development
  • Free parking at Loughborough University campus
  • Pension, life assurance, and private medical insurance to care for you and loved ones
  • Healthy lifestyle support, including discounted gym membership at Loughborough University campus and a cycle to work scheme
