Job Introduction

Join us at British Transport Police (BTP) as we recruit PCSOs to make a difference in our communities.

Our PCSOs protect and serve the railway environment, minimising disruption, crime, and fear of crime.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct visible patrols at stations.
  • Provide victim care and security threat management.
  • Investigate minor crimes.
  • Build community relationships.
  • Support Police Constables within the railway environment.

Requirements

  • Resilience, excellent customer service skills, and a passion for community engagement.
  • Prepared to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Eligible to work in the UK and reside consistently for the past 3 years.

Locations

C Division: Birmingham, Cardiff, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Swansea, Pontypridd and Oxford.

Eligibility

You will not be eligible to apply if you have been unsuccessful in the last 6 months for a PCSO role with BTP, if you have been unsuccessful following your application for Police Officer, Special Constable or PCSO, or if you have received a custodial sentence, have an ongoing investigation, or are a declared bankrupt.

The closing date for applications is midnight on 25th January 2026.

As part of the application process, you will be required to complete a Situational Judgement Test (SJT). If you do not pass the SJT, your application will not progress further. You may reapply once the reapplication period allows.
