The Position: Hiring multiple team members to teach water safety and swim lessons to children year-round using our fun, gentle and progressive methods. You will receive extensive training to build your confidence and ability to work with a variety of swimmers. Having fun and interacting with swimmers is an important part of the role! There is a focus on living our values and teaching water safety to benefit the community.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Pay $16 an hour, based on experience.
  • Sign-on bonus if Lifeguard Certified, or LG fee reimbursement.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Teach engaging and fun swim lessons per our curriculum.
  • Work shifts of 3–4 hours in heated indoor pool in Durham/Chapel Hill area.
  • Work flexible schedule of 8–20 hours a week; (weekdays 3pm-7pm; weekends 9am-1pm); year-round.
  • Interact with parents and caregivers.
  • Report to and support the Aquatics Leader.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, equivalent or in the process of completion.
  • Enthusiastic and engaging personality.
  • Comfortable in and around the water.
  • Complete required aquatics training.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children (camp counselors, childcare, teachers, grandparents/parents, etc.).
  • Swim experience: 1-2 years (High school, college or leisure).
  • Lifeguarding certification strongly preferred (can be obtained during training).
  • Ability to work year-round including summer months.
  • Customer service skills.
