British Sugar is a home-grown success story and one of the most efficient and competitive beet processors in the world. Around 3,500 farmers based in East Anglia and the East Midlands supply our four advanced manufacturing sites with eight million tonnes of sugar beet every year. We produce over 1 million tonnes of sugar, serving customers across the UK, Ireland, and growing in the EU and global markets.
The position is TEMPORARY, employment will start mid September and end approximately mid February 2026 (to be confirmed).
Job Purpose
British Sugar is the leading sugar supplier in the UK and one of the most efficient sugar processors in the world. Partnering with over 3,500 growers, we produce home-grown sugar, supplying around 50% of the UK's sugar market. We are committed to building and supporting a beet sugar industry that benefits Britain. We are recruiting for seasonal roles on our sugar beet processing campaign. The role involves operating within the Beet Intake team, ensuring safety, production, quality, and compliance standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Weighing, sampling, grading, traffic marshalling, and processing sugar beet vehicles.
- Working closely with The National Farmers Union (NFU) and troubleshooting operational issues.
Core Accountabilities
- Practical experience in a production environment or similar process and plant operation is preferred, but comprehensive training will be provided.
- Previous experience in a similar environment is beneficial but not essential.

- Ensuring compliance with NFU standards.
- Troubleshooting operational issues.
- Meeting safety, production, quality, and other compliance requirements.
