Job Purpose
Reporting to the Refinery APU Lead, you will support the delivery of the Refinery’s performance objectives within Quality, Environment, Safety & Health (QESH); cost management; technical budget delivery; engineering reliability and compliance; continuous improvement; housekeeping; capability; and team development. The role is integral to ensuring optimal daily performance while driving continuous improvement activities.
Core Accountabilities
- Safety leadership: developing a culture leading to zero lost time injuries and aligning all activities with business goals.
- Develop a people plan focusing on leading, coaching, and motivating a capable team embodying British Sugar values and leadership model.
- Provide operational support to the Shift Performance Manager, direct line reports, and wider Refinery team to achieve objectives and operational plans.
- Support the Refinery APU Lead and collaborate with Water Treatment Process Lead and other leadership team members to deliver the S&OP plan.
- Support capability development across the Refinery in line with the Factory of the Future plan.
- Provide line leadership to Process Technicians and Support Technicians.
- Analyze factory performance data and recommend remedial actions to optimize throughput, energy, extraction, process chemicals, and product quality.
- Collaborate with other Area Process Leads and technical support functions to share and implement best practices.
- Drive automation and improvement plans, embedding continuous improvement metrics to support the factory of the future.
- Develop commercial understanding to enhance performance.
- Deputise for the Refinery APU Lead and support financial governance within budget constraints.
