Around 3,500 farmers based in East Anglia and the East Midlands supply our four advanced manufacturing sites with eight million tonnes of sugar beet every year. - Full Time, Apprenticeship Duration: 36 months +
- Location: Peterborough – with limited travel to our sites

Powering a world‑class manufacturing business. At British Sugar, finance is at the heart of everything we do. Through our sugar manufacturing process, we support key decision making across a number of core and by‑products. As a Level 3 Finance Apprentice, you’ll develop a solid foundation in financial reporting, controllership, technical accounting and governance. You’ll provide structured support to the Financial Controllership team whilst working toward a professional finance qualification (AAT).
What You Will Be Doing
- Gain experience in core financial activities – e.g. balance sheet reconciliation, audit preparation, journal entries
- Collation and analysis of financial data to support statutory and management reporting
- Support automation and continuous improvement across the function
- Ensure financial controls and internal control frameworks are maintained
What You Will Need
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Level 5/C or above which must include Maths, English and a Science
- An ability to prioritise and communicate effectively, with great teamwork skills
- Understanding of compliance and business ethics, passion for continued learning and development
- Willing and able to work in Peterborough or relocate to one of the following manufacturing sites: Wissington, Bury St Edmunds, Cantley, or Newark, during or after the programme (dependent on role availability)
- The right to work in the United Kingdom
