Around 3,500 farmers based in East Anglia and the East Midlands supply our four advanced manufacturing sites with eight million tonnes of sugar beet every year. We, in turn, make this into over 1 million tonnes of sugar, serving customers across the UK, Ireland and increasingly growing commercially in the EU and world sugar markets.
Job Purpose
The Assistant Financial Accountant Controls and Compliance is responsible for intercompany accounting, fixed asset reporting, compliance collation and reporting and providing general support to the Controls & Compliance team.
Core Accountabilities
- Processing and reconciliation of all intercompany transactions, cleardowns and confirmations and resolution of queries as required.
- Managing head office asset capitalisations and company car transactions and governance along with annual verification.
- Completing period balance sheet reconciliations including GRNI with aging analysis.
- Responsible for administration and control of company credit cards.
- Ownership and maintenance of DLA.
- Administration for Barclays bank.
- JDE system reviews for finance including component review and role review and integrity checks.
- Periodic collation and reporting of compliance training statistics including following up on any non-completion.
- Preparation and submission of National Statistics Returns.
- Provide cover for other members of Controls & Compliance team.
Skills, Knowledge & Competencies
- Basic accounting qualification.
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade 5 and above or A-C.
- Intermediate level for Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Understands the importance of safe working within job/function/team.
- Experience of JDE system desirable.
- Experience of working within a Finance department within an administrative role.
- Experience of handling confidential information.
- Familiar with continuous improvement and introducing process improvements into a business desirable.
