Graduate Electrical Engineer Programme

Our sites combine advanced power generation, energy recovery, and distribution systems to produce up to 85 megawatts of electricity — keeping our factories running safely, efficiently, and sustainably. As a Graduate Electrical Engineer, you’ll design, maintain, and develop the electrical infrastructure that supports the production of over a million tonnes of sugar each year — a true example of engineering on an industrial scale.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Gain experience in power generation and distribution, including steam and gas turbine systems.
  • Work with high‑voltage and low‑voltage networks, transformers, and switchgear.
  • Support automation and control systems, from digital protection to modern control technologies.
  • Contribute to upgrade and improvement projects focused on energy efficiency and sustainability.
  • Take part in capital projects — from design and specification through testing, commissioning, and delivery.

What You Will Need

  • A minimum 2:1 degree (or predicted) in Electrical, Electronic, Power, or Energy Engineering.
  • Ability to apply engineering principles to diagnose issues and suggest practical solutions.
  • An interest in large‑scale industrial systems and how energy supports sustainable production.
  • A strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Clear communication and teamwork skills — able to collaborate and share ideas effectively.
  • Flexibility to be based at and travel between any of our UK sites.
