Salary - £35-40K p.a. depending on experience

Location - Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, DN16 1XA

Pattern of Work - 36.5 hours, Monday - Friday

What you need to know about the role:

In the role of Stores Operations Manager, you will be responsible for leading and motivating the Stores Teams across our Scunthorpe and Immingham sites. You will ensure the effective implementation of British Steel’s personnel management policies, including absence management, timekeeping, and disciplinary procedures. With Health and Safety as our top priority, you will oversee the execution of the department’s Health & Safety Improvement Plan. This includes ensuring safe working practices, conducting risk assessments, and maintaining full compliance with company Health & Safety standards.

You will define competency requirements for all Stores personnel and lead the development and delivery of structured training plans within agreed timescales. The role also involves recruiting and selecting team members, setting individual performance objectives, and supporting professional development in alignment with departmental and business goals.

You will manage engineering stores stock levels to ensure availability meets operational demand, while working collaboratively with MRP Controllers to optimise inventory and minimise working capital investment. You will support the delivery of the stock obsolescence programme within agreed timelines and establish high standards for storage and housekeeping, implementing action plans to achieve these standards.

You will be responsible for setting and delivering key performance indicators (KPIs) in line with departmental and site Quality Assurance standards. This includes providing expertise during internal and external audits and maintaining the department’s Quality Assurance manuals in accordance with ISO 9001 accreditation requirements.

The role also involves working closely with Works Area Management teams to drive Continuous Improvement initiatives, and drive innovation and efficiency across stores operations.

What we need to know about you:

Ideally you will have strong management and analytical skills. You will have proven business acumen and a successful track record in developing structured management processes and achieving challenging personal and department goals and objectives. You will need previous experience in a management role in an operational or warehouse management function of at least 5 years. You will ideally have a good knowledge of SAP EWM / IM system, and it is desirable to be educated to HNC level in supply chain or warehouse management in an engineering discipline.
