Pattern of Work – 36.5 hours, Monday – Friday (Hybrid Working (3 days onsite / 2 remote)
What you need to know about the role
This role will primarily focus on supporting the delivery of a large HPE Aruba network refresh, while also contributing to the operational performance, reliability and continual improvement of the organisation’s multi-site network. The role combines hands‑on support with involvement in project delivery, solution design and network optimisation.
You will work closely with vendors and partners, providing technical assurance and constructive challenge, while contributing to the design and evolution of network solutions to ensure they are fit for purpose, secure and deliver value to the business, working alongside specialist security and firewall resources where appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and support the organisation’s multi‑site network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance and security.
- Diagnose and resolve network incidents and problems, taking ownership through to resolution and root cause analysis.
- Plan and implement network changes, upgrades and improvements in line with change control processes.
- Support the delivery of network‑related projects, working with internal teams and third‑party partners.
- Define and maintain network standards, documentation and best practices, ensuring consistency and maintainability.
- Monitor network capacity, performance and resilience across LAN, WAN and wireless infrastructure, proactively identifying risks and areas for optimisation.
- Contribute to and influence network solution design, reviewing and challenging vendor proposals to ensure they are secure, supportable and aligned to standards.
- Work in partnership with dedicated firewall and security engineers, ensuring network and security designs are aligned and operationally effective.
What we need to know about you
- Strong experience supporting multi‑site enterprise network environments.
- Relevant Aruba certifications (e.g. ACSP, ACCP, HPE Aruba Networking Certified Professional – Campus Access).
- Solid knowledge of routing, switching, VPNs, network security, and firewall technologies (Palo Alto, Fortinet).
- Hands‑on experience with Aruba switching, wireless solutions, and ClearPass NAC.
- Proven troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Experience working within ITIL‑controlled change environments.
- Ability to review, interpret and contribute to network designs, standards, and vendor management.
- Strong documentation, monitoring, performance, and capacity management skills.
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Experience with SD‑WAN, cloud networking (Azure), and hybrid connectivity solutions.
- Knowledge of network access control and identity integration, including ClearPass, NAC, and 802.1x.
- Experience supporting industrial, manufacturing, or multi‑site operational environments.
- Exposure to network automation, scripting and Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Python, Ansible).
- Experience working with managed service providers and external delivery partners.
