We’re looking for a qualified Human Factors Specialist to join our team to support us deliver a site wide human factors strategy to effectively manage human factors related risks.
Main Responsibilities
- Strategy – Develop, own and communicate Human Factors standards and action plans for specialist topics (Safety Critical Task Analysis and Human Error Assessments, Incident Investigation, Management of Organisational Change, Procedural Support systems, Communication Systems & Protocols etc).
- Continuous Improvement – Maintain up to date knowledge and professional competence in Human Factors management to include legislative requirements and industry best practice.
- Advisory Service – Provide a professional Human Factors advisory service in British Steel that supports Directors, Managers and Engineers in their responsibilities with respect to Human Factors. Lead Human Factors risk assessments and Task Analysis within British Steel.
- Monitor for Compliance – Undertake audits to ensure standards are being met consistently across the business.
- People – Determine competence requirements for British Steel personnel with regard to Human Factors and advice and/or deliver appropriate training and development. Coach and mentor Process Safety Specialists, Works managers, Works engineers in the application of the Human Factors standards and principles.
What we need to know about you
You will have experience in leading Human Factors activities within an Industrial environment. Ideally you will be, or working towards Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (MCIEHF).
