We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Engineer or Team Leader to join the engineering team at Concast. As an Electrical Maintenance Engineer, you’ll lead a group of team leaders and craft persons made up of both internal employees and contractors. You’ll play a vital role in keeping our assets running safely, reliably, and efficiently through involvement in maintaining critical plant infrastructure.
You’ll Support a Range Of Engineering Activities, Including:
- Maintenance planning and execution – working closely with plant teams to ensure safe, cost-effective engineering support.
- Plant performance and reliability improvements, identifying areas for enhancement and delivering practical solutions.
- Breakdown rectification to minimise delays and production losses.
- Project involvement, from design and technical submissions through to installation and commissioning of capital works.
- Safety-first mindset, ensuring all activities align with our rigorous safety standards.
You will be allocated to one of the 4 continuous casters within the Concast Plant (Caster 4, Billet, Slab and Caster 5). The Concast plant receives molten steel from 300 ton ladles at temperatures up to 1600°C. The molten steel is cast into the end product using oscillating copper moulds, water sprays, transport roller tables, torch cutting machines and cooling banks. The cast products range from 140mm square billets to 2035mm wide 305mm thick slabs at lengths up to 14.5m.
You will work on many different types of electrical and engineering equipment that includes motors, drives, sensors, instrumentation, PLCs, SCADA/HMI, MCC (power centres), hydraulic and pneumatic systems, gas systems and water systems.
To be considered for this position you must be qualified to a minimum degree level in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent in a relevant electrical trade or be a time served Electrical Team Leader/Engineer. Ideally you will have experience of electrical maintenance and fault finding within a commercial or heavy engineering environment. Essential to the role is the ability to adapt to new equipment. You must be flexible, have a desire to learn and develop and an ability to adapt to new equipment. Knowledge of steelmaking processes would be beneficial but is not essential, as extensive training will be provided.
