What you need to know about the role:
To act as the single, coordinated interface between Primary Operations and the Heavy Plant Garage, improving governance, prioritisation clarity, communication flow, and asset availability performance for the heavy mobile plant fleet. The role will ensure that the Fleet Management Tool is constantly updated throughout the day, and update for actions undertaken out with normal site attendance, being responsible for ensuring that all information has been input either personally or by other members of the Garage team. The role will strengthen collaboration between operational departments and maintenance services, ensuring repair activities, maintenance planning, and improvement initiatives are aligned with operational risk and business priorities. This position will ensure that all 3 Garages (Santon, Blast Furnace and Redbourn) operate efficiently and deliver work within the expected timescales.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate operational priorities into a structured, agreed repair and maintenance plan.
- Reduce unstructured enquiries and conflicting direction into the garage.
- Support prioritisation of repairs based on: Operational criticality, safety risk, production impact, asset condition and reliability data.
- Establish and maintain clear KPIs and produce concise weekly and monthly performance reporting to Primary Production leadership.
- Provide clear, factual updates to the appropriate areas.
- Monitor the TPMS system and ensure that we are managing the Tyre fleet and dealing with any warnings that arise.
- Ensure that operators are trained and efficient in what the system requirements are.
- Attend plant update meetings where scheduled.
What we need to know about you:
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to plan effectively and prioritise.
- Good IT skills, with the ability adapt to bespoke software systems.
- Experience of managing or supervising teams would be desirable.
- Ideally, you will have a background or experience of mechanical maintenance, general practical knowledge or skills would be beneficial.
