The Head of Occupational Safety is responsible for providing expert guidance on Health & Safety (H&S) strategy, driving continuous improvement in safety performance, and ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety standards. This role is pivotal in shaping a strong safety culture across the organisation.
Principal Accountabilities
- Ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental legislation
- Providing expert guidance on technical, legal, and regulatory issues
- Monitoring performance data to identify risks and deliver improvement plans
- Managing incident reporting and investigations, including RIDDOR compliance
- Liaising with external bodies and supporting safety training initiatives
What we need to know about you
Weβre looking for a Health & Safety professional with proven expertise in risk management and occupational safety. Youβll bring strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, ISO 45001 implementation, and hold a NEBOSH Diploma (a Health & Safety degree is preferred). The ideal candidate will have exceptional attention to detail to identify hazards, alongside the ability to produce detailed reports and develop effective safety procedures. Strong analytical skills in data interpretation and risk assessment are essential, as well as excellent organisational, leadership, and motivational abilities. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills are key to engaging teams and promoting a positive safety culture across the business.
