At British Solar Renewables, we’re accelerating the transition to clean, affordable energy. As a Junior Grid Connections Manager, you’ll play a key role in helping our large-scale solar and battery storage projects connect to the electricity network, ensuring renewable energy reaches homes and businesses across the UK. This is an exciting opportunity for someone in the early stages of their engineering or renewable energy career who wants to develop specialist expertise, work with major industry stakeholders, and grow within a supportive and collaborative team.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Managing and Coordinating Grid Activities
- Liaise with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), Transmission Operators (TOs), National Grid ESO, and Independent Connection Providers (ICPs/IDNOs).
- Helping to drive projects from inception through to energisation, ensuring grid access is timely, cost-effective and compliant.
- Assist in detailed technical discussions with DNOs, ICPs, designers, Development Project Managers and legal teams.
- Help with reviewing and identifying grid cable route requirements.
- Working with DNOs to agree viable communication systems and connection approaches.
- Work with senior team members to identify cost-saving opportunities within grid offers.
- Support in all connection-related surveys and ensuring requirements are met.
- Collaborating with ICPs to ensure DNO obligations and standards are delivered.
- Arranging metering, MPANs, import agreements, and all connection-related documentation.
- Coordinating Joint Operating Agreements for new connections.
- Maintaining accurate records of grid status and project progress.
- Ensuring project milestones remain aligned with grid offer commitments.
- Assist with organising and documenting regular meetings with DNO and project teams, issuing minutes and action plans.
- Supporting identification and coordination of Low Voltage (LV) power and telephone connection requirements.
- Assisting with other grid-related tasks as required across the project lifecycle.
What You Bring
- A degree in Renewable Energy, Electrical Engineering or similar (or equivalent experience) is desirable.
- Project Management experience is desirable.
- A good understanding of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Great communication skills and able to work with stakeholders at all levels.
- A full UK driving licence.
