About this role: As a Service Technician, you’ll be the go‑to expert responsible for keeping our solar and BESS sites running safely, efficiently and at peak performance. If you thrive on autonomy, problem‑solving and working outdoors, this is a brilliant opportunity to grow your technical career in a sector that’s only going up. This role includes responding to planned and reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, resolution and reporting. This role requires participation in a weekend on-call rota. The successful candidate will need to be within a commutable distance of Halsted, Ipswich, Chelmsford or Colchester.
What you will be doing:
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across electrical, mechanical, communications, structural and security systems.
- Diagnosing and resolving faults across solar PV and battery storage assets.
- Completing inspections, reports, work orders and maintaining strong site records.
- Managing site and vehicle stock, ensuring safe and compliant working at all times.
- Supervising contractors, delivering site inductions and supporting safe systems of work.
- Taking part in the weekend on‑call rota.
- Travelling occasionally to support other regions, including overnight stays when required.
- Participating in technical, on‑site and classroom training (with opportunities for overseas training too).
- A passion for protecting local biodiversity, with the initiative to take on small maintenance tasks that support a clean, safe and environmentally responsible site.
What skills you will have:
- Qualified Electrician or Electrical Engineer (BS7671).
- Inspection & testing experience (C&G 2391‑52 or equivalent, or working towards).
- Strong background in solar PV installation and maintenance, utility-scale experience is ideal.
- Experience with inverters/PCS (SMA, Sungrow, Power Electronics, Gamesa, etc.) highly desirable.
- HV experience preferred (Switchgear, transformers; AP/SAP training up to 33kV advantageous).
- Great problem-solving ability and confidence working independently.
- A proactive attitude, good communication skills and a steady approach.
- Enjoy working outdoors in all weather.
- Full clean UK driving licence.

- Long Service Recognition Scheme.
- Private Health insurance after completion of 3-month probation period.
- Life insurance.
