Experience developing wind projects is essential for this role. British Solar Renewables creates smart energy systems for a net zero carbon future. British Solar Renewables develops (BSR Energy), builds (BSR EPC), and maintains (BSR O&M) utility-scale solar, wind and storage projects in the UK and internationally. Having developed and built in excess of 700MWp BSR are a major contributor to the UK Renewable Energy Sector.

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Project Manager will be responsible for the delivery of large-scale solar PV, wind and energy storage projects. Drawing on internal and external resources this position will involve the planning and implementation of an agreed list of functions and deliverables across the project life span from inception through to handover. A key function will be to take the project from inception and establish land rights and achieve planning consent and necessary permits ensuring the project is in line with legislation and relevant guidelines and regulations.

Working within agreed budgets and time frames, the Project Manager will be expected to maintain a disciplined tracking and reporting regime using recognised project management techniques and tools. The role requires a high-level understanding of commercial, legal, technical and construction activities required to successfully deliver high value energy-based projects.

What we need from you:

  • Ensuring that health and safety is at the forefront of all decision making – ‘Everyone Safe Always’.
  • Assist the Land Manager with negotiating and agreeing land rights with landowners, land agents and solicitors.
  • Co-ordinate and manage external consultants such as Planning, Environmental and Public Relations to carry out necessary surveys and reports for planning application submission.
  • Attending site visits as necessary.
  • Working with external and internal teams to carry out necessary surveys and reports and refine the design of the park accordingly.
  • Organising, attending and speaking at Parish Council meetings and public consultation events and meetings with local neighbours and communities.
  • Attending Planning Committee meetings.
  • Co-ordinating intrusive site works in line with BSR Health & Safety Policy.
  • Discharging planning conditions.
  • Managing handover of projects with planning consent to the Engineering, Procurement and Construction team.
  • Manage each project budget ensuring best value and remaining within approved budget amounts.
  • Working to tight deadlines ensuring co-ordination with both external and internal consultants.
  • Taking ownership to deliver the project from the very earliest stage of the project life cycle to the final handover.

What skills you will have:

  • Experience in Construction/Developer Project Management with a working knowledge in the renewables sector.
  • Experience in the development and acquisition of Onshore Wind projects is essential.
  • Experience taking projects through the planning consent process desired.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • A team player who listens, learns and actively communicates across all levels of the Group.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills both written and oral to a variety of stakeholders both internal and external.

Education

A qualification in Project Management is required, i.e. APM or the willingness to work towards one.
