  • About this role

We’re looking for an experienced Grid Connections Manager to lead grid connection delivery from connection offer acceptance through to energisation across our renewable energy and battery storage portfolio.

You’ll coordinate network operators, ICPs, IDNOs, EPC contractors, consultants and internal teams, keeping programmes, milestones, risks, budgets and energisation plans on track.

This role can be based in Somerset or London.

  • What you’ll be doing
  • Leading project delivery
  • Own a portfolio of grid connection delivery projects from offer acceptance through to energisation, managing programmes, milestones, budgets, risks and recovery plans.
  • Coordinate internal development, engineering, land, legal, finance and construction teams to ensure each project is ready for delivery.
  • Lead project reviews, track actions and provide clear reporting on progress, risks, issues and mitigation plans to senior leadership.
  • Grid Connection Delivery
  • Manage DNO, TO and NESO connection works, ensuring agreements, milestones, securities and contractual obligations are delivered effectively.
  • Coordinate contestable and non-contestable works through ICP, IDNO and network providers, including cable routes, substation interfaces, telecoms, protection systems, metering, MPAN registration and energisation.
  • Monitor provider programmes, challenge delays and drive recovery plans where delivery dates are at risk.
  • Stakeholder Management
  • Act as the main point of contact for DNOs, NESO, ICPs, IDNOs, EPC contractors, consultants and internal project teams.
  • Build strong delivery partner relationships, chair progress meetings, hold stakeholders accountable and escalated critical issues when needed.
  • Identify risks to timelines, budgets and energisation dates, maintaining risk registers and implementing appropriate controls.
  • Manage changing regulatory and industry requirements while keeping project delivery objectives on track.
  • Reporting & Commercial Management
  • Track grid-related expenditure, support commercial negotiations on programmes, variations and changes, and maintain accurate project reports, schedules, forecasts and documentation.
  • What we’re looking for
  • Significant experience delivering UK electricity grid connection and complex infrastructure projects through delivery and energisation.
  • Strong project management background across programme, cost, risk, stakeholder management and multiple concurrent projects.
  • Experience managing DNO, NESO, ICP, IDNO and EPC contractor interfaces in challenging, fast-paced environments.
  • Strong understanding of electricity network connection processes and delivery requirements.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively and drive projects to completion.
  • Highly organised, resilient and able to perform effectively under pressure.

Skills and qualifications

  • Qualification or proven experience in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems,
  • Proficient in MS Office; Auto CAD experience beneficial.
  • Familiarity with project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, or similar).
  • Full UK driving licence.
