The Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence (CFI) at the Institute for Technology and Humanity are inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a research project in trustworthy AI, led by Professor Adrian Weller. This is a fixed-term post where funding is available for two years.
The research project investigates how to develop fundamental theory and methods that enable machine learning systems to be deployed in a trustworthy manner. The project spans human-AI interaction, fairness, transparency, privacy and other approaches to optimising deployed AI systems as human-machine teams. The postdoc will conduct research developing and evaluating methods at the frontier of trustworthy AI, validating them on real-world problems in partnership with domain experts and stakeholders, and publishing and presenting results at leading venues in machine learning (such as NeurIPS, ICML and ICLR), AI ethics and society (such as FAccT and AIES), as well as policy fora.
Applicants should have completed, or be near completion of, a PhD in Computer Science, Information Engineering, Statistics, Machine Learning or a closely related field, with expertise in one or more areas of trustworthy AI, such as human-AI interaction, fairness, transparency and interpretability, privacy, or robustness. A strong understanding of machine learning methods, together with excellent mathematical and programming skills, is required.
