Location: UK with International opportunities - Please note applications from outside the UK will not be considered.

Contractual terms: on a consultant basis (Self-Employed, through a UK registered company within the rules of IR35).

Day Rate: Competitive, based on experience, starting from £400 per day.

Role Overview: As a global leader in workplace occupational health and safety, environmental management and wellbeing, British Safety Council supports organisations worldwide through training, consultancy and auditing services. We are looking to work with experienced Associate Environmental Management and Sustainability Consultants based in the UK who bring a proactive, collaborative approach and a genuine passion for Environmental Management and Sustainability in the workplace. The role may involve work across the UK and internationally, supporting clients to develop and embed best practice in Environmental Management and Sustainability.

The role includes providing consultancy and support to clients to strengthen their Environmental Management and Sustainability strategies, standards, policies and provisions. You will also deliver training, facilitate workshops, and conduct our Five Star Best Practice Audits. In addition, there will be opportunities to further your professional and personal development through speaking engagements, industry platforms and contributions to our thought leadership and think tank activities.

Key areas of work:

  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of Environmental Management and Sustainability strategies, policies, procedures, and practices across a range of organisations in the UK and/or globally.
  • Audit against the unique British Safety Council 5 Star Environmental Sustainability specification and provide insightful recommendations to clients to add value to their people investments and drive Environmental Management and Sustainability standards.
  • Identify and evaluate potential risks, providing solutions to mitigate these effectively.
  • Collaborate with clients to support the promotion of a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Develop and deliver reports with detailed findings, recommendations, and best practices.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and legislative changes related to Environmental Management and Sustainability.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Attributes:

  • Relevant level 6 and above qualifications in Environmental Management and Sustainability.
  • Lead Auditor qualification.
  • Experience in undertaking either internal or external auditing.
  • Practical experience in Environmental Management and Sustainability, preferably in a workplace setting.
  • Strong knowledge of current Environmental Management and Sustainability best practices.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Member of relevant professional environmental and/or sustainability body.
